MORNING NEWS * In a significant move to ensure the benefit to thousands of un-employed youth of the State, the State Cabinet, which met in Srinagar yesterday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, approved the scraping of the recruitment policy under which the basic stipend (fixed salary grades) was to be provided to the persons employed in various Government departments for first five years. * Return of Kashmiri Pandits to Kashmir valley, checking of influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and improving Centre-State relations are among the key issues to be flagged by the Home Ministry for action by Narendra Modi when he assumes charge as Prime Minister. * An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit the Bay of Bengal region on Wednesday night, officials from the Indian earthquake monitoring network said. These projects would generate7500 Mega Watts (MW) of solar power. * State Cabinet yesterday approved amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir Compassionate Appointment Rules, 1994 notified vide SRO-43.
