MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY ~ TOY STORAGE I work with a lot of families - TopicsExpress

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY ~ TOY STORAGE I work with a lot of families and the key trouble spots are toy storage & organization. These issues seem to be exacerbated after holidays or birthdays so here are some tips to help; 1) Make room for new toys by donating those that are no longer enjoyed. Dont organized what isnt used or loved anymore. 2) Keep a basket handy for quick clean-up or storage of toys, especially in bedrooms & family rooms. 3) Keep the bulk of toys in a playroom and only minimal toys in mutual family areas stored in a decorative basket. 4) If children have an unfinished basement to play in then mark off an area and toys need to be contained to this in order to keep it under control. 5) Change up toys, dont keep all toys available at all times. Too many choices can overwhelm children or they become bored and mess inevitably follows. 6) Children are expected to tidy and clean up after themselves at school and the same should be reinforced at home. Children are quite capable of age appropriate tasks and feel a sense of accomplishment if you give them the tools to do so.
