MSP of commodities highest in 9 years of UPA govt The Minimum Support Price (MSP) of commodities has been highest during the 9 year UPA regime. This has helped the Indian farmers get a fair price for their produce. The MSP of wheat has increased from Rs 640 per quintal in 2004-05 to Rs 1,285 in 2011-12 (up 101%) while for Paddy, it has gone up from Rs 570 per quintal in 2004-05 to Rs 1,250 (up 119%). The total increase in the MSP of wheat, for example, has been an astonishing Rs 720 per quintals so far, which is about 9 times higher than the increase during the NDA’s term.The increase in the MSP of paddy was Rs 110 per quintal during NDA rule. During the term of the UPA, the MSP of paddy has been increased by Rs 690, which is more than six times higher than the increase during the NDA years.
