MURRAY-CALLOWAY ENDOWMENT HOSTS TELETHON TO RAISE FUNDS FOR RESIDENTIAL HOSPICE HOUSE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MURRAY, KY – As the shift in fundraising turns from building the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House to supporting its operations, the Murray-Calloway Endowment for Healthcare is hosting its second annual fundraising telethon Nov. 18-20. Sponsored this year by Taylor Motors, the telethon will run from 6-7:30 p.m. nightly on channel 15 for all Murray Electric System subscribers. MES is hosting the telethon at their studios and e-Tel of Murray is sponsoring the telephone lines for donors to call. Taylor Motors will match the first $1,000 in donations each night for a total of $3,000. The overall goal for the three-day event is $10,000. “We’ve raised the funds to construct the hospice house but now we need to continue our mission of support,” said Keith Travis, vice president of development at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. Programming throughout the night will include information about the hospice house and the existing hospice program at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, testimonials from those who have witnessed hospice care or worked in the field and a rolling update of total funds raised. A new feature this year is an auction that will run concurrently with the telethon. Items up for auction include a Briggs and Stratton engine, basketball signed by Isaiah Canaan and the rest of the 2011-2012 Murray State University basketball team, an Evenflo-Discovery Infant Car Seat and several custom-painted birdhouses and mailboxes. The Endowment is still seeking volunteers to man the phone banks during the telethon, who will answer calls from potential donors. Donations will be accepted via telephone by calling (270) 761-6000 or visiting MCCHEndowment.org and clicking the “donate now” button. All donors will receive a pin recognizing them as donors to the Endowment.
