MUSLIM GIRLS IN MYSORE TAKE TO CRAFTS, COMPUTER SCIENCE, ELECTRONICS & DENTISTRY IN A BIG WAY. While many of us remain engaged on the debate whether Muslim girls should wear hijab (head gear) or not, the minority community of Karnataka has left it to the discretion of the girls and their families. But what they have not left to anybody’s discretion is that the girls should pursue education of their choice and get empowered. Today we visited Phulwari (Muslim Girls Orphanage) run by the Rifaul Muslimeen Education Trust and saw the craftwork of the inmates. Next we visited the Polytechnic for women and met the girl students pursuing computer science & electronics courses there. The evening destination was Farooqia Dental College & Hospital where we encountered (PG Girl) dental students doing a minor dental surgery. Realisation at the end of the day: we in Assam have a long way to go.
