MY 90s - One of the remarkable 90s underground-to-mainstream phenomenons was the grrrl riot thing (never quite sure how many rs are supposed to be there). Im a guy, so the whole idea of rock n roll devil dolls playing heavy with mini skirts and boots is always something that brings out the romantic in me ;) Having said that, most of the bands that were in it were pretty much look-at-me-I-m-a-woman-and-I-can-out-man-any-man copycats of the grunge and metal of the era. Attitude, and not music, was the focus. Which is sort of a pity, because female musical talent would probably serve these ladies feminist aspirations way better than smeared make-up and pink punk hair. Nonetheless, I am a fan of both Hole and L7, the latter of which I am very proud to have seen live in Portugal back in the days (and come to think of it, 311 was in that festival too). If rock chicks we must like, than let us enjoy these kick-ass ladies. It does make us hungry for stink.
