MY LEGAL OPINION ON THE GAZA-ISREALI CRISIS & WHAT INTERNATIONAL LAW SAYS..... The UN human rights council and many NGOs have unanimously accused Israeli of violating international law as regards collective punishment,targeting civilians and proportionality of prohibiting access to medical assistance which actions are in violation of international humanitarian law governing the obligations of an occupying force and the laws of war. The Israeli government has responded alleging self-defense rather than reprisals.To an extent that BENJAMIN NETANYAHU says,anything affiliated with Hamas is and shall always be a legitimate target. With due respect, i for one find the Israeli position legally flawed when i insert (UN Security Council Resolution 1566) into context whereby, simple Hamass locations do not make such locations legitimate targets for example. government buildings. Regarding killing of unarmed civilians and police men: Under international humanitarian law, police are presumed civilians and immune from attack, unless formally incorporated into the armed forces of a party to a conflict or directly participating in the hostilities. Israel has been accused of blocking humanitarian supplies to Gaza. Whoever, under international law once again Art 23 of the fourth Geneva convention .Israel s only required not to interfere with humanitarian assistance brought or sent by others for the benefit of children under the age of 15, mothers of newborns and pregnant women.But still under Art 23 a party can block the passage if it has serious grounds to believe that the items will be intercepted before reaching their destinations for instance if Hamas seized a convoy on ts way. Under Art 53 of the convention , destruction of homes and property is forbidden unless it is militarily necessary to do so. A devil lies in what is being said and done...like the legendary legal maxim POVERTY SOMEHOW NEGATES THE OUT MOST PROTECTION & FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS.... it is imperative noting that,the entire conflict is beholden to its financiers who have the moral,political and financial obligation to facilitate cessation of hostilities thus propagation of the political will .
