~ MY OWN WORST ENEMY ~ Theres a battle brewing down deep in my soul My vision blurred, cant tell whos friend or foe Angels and demons locked in an ancient tug of war Ripping at my flesh, eating away at my core With good and evil struggling for control The blood in my veins runs free and cold... Nourished by pain, pleasure turns to sorrow Dwelling in fear, no hope for tomorrow On and on the tireless battle will roar My conscience hidden away forever more No moral compass to lead the way My evil thoughts come out to play Void of love, a heart full of envy God knows Im my own worst enemy.... A conflict of no real proportions My mind only sees sinful distortions Shadows whisper unspeakable deeds On lies and deception a black heart feeds As darkness swallows up the light I lose my ability and will to fight..... Are the agents of evil really that strong Or was I so weak, I couldnt carry on Trumpets sound as the battle is finished My final sin...no blood has diminished I take a deep breath and pull the trigger Angels look down on a cold limp figure.... Lived and died in disgrace A cowards last embrace Laid to rest in suffering sleep Demons dance as angels weep For a mans soul they couldnt save A hollow shell in a shallow grave Lack of faith, lost and empty God knows Im my own worst enemy.....
