Maaaan, when I tell yall that last nights Sunday Night Soul at The 5 Spot was one for the ages...Oooh weee!!! First Emoni Wilkins comes out and does this acoustic set that had the entire room silent and listening for every beautiful note she sang. Then her band consisting of Jeremy Nixon, Brandon Newsome, Josh Ellis, Phillip Moore, and Alex Kramer joined in with her and set the place on fire. Emoni, thank you for coming out and doin your thing and for presenting yourself in such an honest and transparent way. I promise that will pay off. Ok, back to the recap...My guys, as always played like they may never get to play again...with urgency and accuracy. In the absence of brother De Marco Johnson, we had Jeremy Nixon and Michael B. Hicks filling in on the keys. They both killed. (Ask Hicks about his new toy.) Oh yeah...the place was packed and the vibe was so good. Folks were dancing their cares away and we even had a bachelorette party from Denver hangin out with us. So much fun! Next up on 6/8 is Kiya Ife Lacey. The night will also double as part of her mama, Ericka Alexanders birthday celebration. Come on out and party with us!
