Mac Hickox National Sprint Development Director C: 647 999 8671 E: [email protected] July 13, 2014 To: Parents & Athletes Re: 2014 Team USA Pan Am Championships GUIDELINES Congratulations on your son / daughter to the 2014 Team USA Pan Am Championships in Mexico City, Sept 4 to 7. For many of you this is the first time you have been part of a USA Canoe Kayak Team USA Under 18 but for all of you it is an exciting opportunity. Before we begin the Team USA logistical process, I must outline some USA Canoe Kayak policies/guidelines for the 2014 Team USA Pan Am Championships: SECTION A 1. All athletes must stay in the Team USA accommodations as a member of Team USA. 2. All athletes must travel with Team USA as a member of Team USA. 3. Team USA staff are responsible for the care of the athletes and you as his parent must complete the Travel Form and Athlete Code of Conduct – both attached - and return both of these forms to me by Wednesday July 15th. 4. As this is an Under 18 Team USA project the athletes involved must therefore have a parent sign and complete the details for medical insurance on the Travel Form as well as read and sign the Athlete Code of Conduct along with your son/daughter. 5. Team USA coaching staff will monitor the training of all athletes while in Mexico City leading up to and including the actual competition – Sept 1 to 7. Personal coaches, if present, are not be involved with the athletes in any fashion – this includes at the competition site; hotel; shuttle to and from the course or at any meals. Also please understand: SECTION B 1. The entries for the Pan Am Championships are set based on the results from the National Team Trials – April 25/26, 2014 in Oklahoma City. WK1 500m & 200m – Kaimi Yoza; WK2 500m Karenna Paul & Lydia Skolrood; WK1 200m – Lydia Keefe Sampson. MK1 1000m & 200m – Dylan Puckett; MK2 1000m & 200m Michael Weyna & Yoseph Chipi; MC1 1000m & 200m – Andrew Field. 2. Personal coaches will not be issued accreditation as a coach or any other position with Team USA. 3. The total fee for the Team USA 2014 Pan Am Championships is $2000.00 per athlete - this amount is to be paid in two $1000 USD installments. The first installment is due July 21st and the second by August 21st, 2014 to Gerald Babao in the USA Canoe Kayak office – contact Gerald [email protected] or by cell 704 778 0525. Parents are to sign this Guideline form to acknowledge you have read the guidelines and accept the same.
