Macc Mens 501 Darts League Match Reports.Wk..19..29/09/14... Sunday Morning Special. Macc Express Article... BY GAME-ON.... RAILWAY VIEW 4 V 3 BRUCE A... __________________________________________________________ NO RESULT CARD PHOTO SUPPLIED/NO MATCH REPORT.... __________________________________________________________ QUEENS A 4 V 3 LORD BYRON ..._________________________________________________________ Could this be the tie that decides the title race this season.I doubt it ,but they dont come any bigger or hopefully any better Has the two most likely to clashed at the Queens this Monday night. The atmosphere was tense as the room filled and as sometimes happens in fixtures like this tension ends up neutralizing the game.... As proceedings got under way,the Byrons Tech Leach stepped forward first to take on the Queens Simon Goda. With the darts advantage Tech took the first with a commanding seventeen darter. With Simon unable to get into a rhythm Tech soon made it two nil for first blood to the Byron. At one nil up to the poets Matt Babyface McAllister entered the fray drawn against top gunner Mark Turner. You would have to fancy the Terror with the darts but Matt hit an unreproachable sixteen dart leg that threw Mark a curve ball. Back on it in the second Mark upped the ante with consistent scoring but a fateful mistake busting 116 led to the downfall of the Terror and his first defeat of the season at the hands of the clinical Babyface. With the Byron sinking their teeth into an early lead could Steve Kimpton keep the wagon rolling.Steve was up against Queens Captain Glen Valentine who has found a little form of late.Having taken the first against the darts it was Glen who hit stride in the second taking the game with a seventeen dart leg for 2- 0. At 2 - 1 down the Queens Neil Podmore faced Scott Newton to try and level it.These two played each other in the first half of the season match which went to Scotty Neutron Newton. Scott was in no mood for sharing the honours as he made a clean sweep of Neil 2 - 0 for a 3 - 1 lead on the night to the poets. On the brink of defeat the Queens somehow had to bring salvation back. Enter the Jacksons. Not Tito and Jermaine but Andy of the Queens and Daz of the Byron. It was Daz who showed Andy the way to go in the first with a forceful 180.Somehow Andy dug in and and shaded the next two to bring the fixture back to life.At 3 - 2 The last singles march was contested between Bryan Jones and Neil Whitmore.Bryan having not played for seven weeks and Neil predominantly a round the board thrower would surely throw an interesting game into the mix. With two evenly matched players scoring like for like it was the Jones factor shone through to level the match at 3 - 3..... With only the doubles left to decide it the Byron fielded dependable duo of Matt McAllister and Scott Newton against a returning after illness Kirk Ten-Pierick and Glen Valentine. After a edgy first leg it was the Queens who came back from the almost dead on the night to claim the spoils with a Kirk Ten-Pierick 180 in a 23 dart 701 leg 2 - 0 ..... With games running out this could be a big result for the Queens. __________________________________________________________ Nags A 7 V 0 Nags B ... __________________________________________________________ The Nags B have been collecting 7 - 0s lately like small boys collect football cards. The Nags A would be well aware that the banana skin factor is very real when playing your opposite number so a little respect would be the order of the evening... Martin Perry came out of the hat first to oppose the B teams Andy Bowman.Andy can throw a mean game when he is in the mood so underestimate him at your peril.Martin is a smooth operator and almost sublime in his throwing. On the night Andy was unable to compete with Martin and the nosebags took a 1 - 0 lead. Next the bulletproof Lee Banks faced Adam Forrest in the second game and has Lee got into his stride he hit a 180.Adam found himself overpowered as Lee won it 2 - 0... Nosebags Roy Barber had the honour of playing Gee gees Allen Akker Leigh in his third game of the evening.Allen is one of the most unpredictable Monday night challengers and could prove an unwanted headache for Roy.On the night it was the might of Roy not dropping a leg to Allen that saw the Nags A make it 3 - 0 .... Next it was battle of the Captains Gav Finlow for the A and Marcus Dennerley for the B.Could Gav close the game out and bag even more points for the cause. As the game unfolded it was Gav who came out crease free with another 2 - 0 banker to the nosebags. With everything else being icing on the cake for the As points wise, Steve Holland entered the mix ,with Kieran Nelson for company. With typical precision it was the Dutchman that continued the rout with another 2 - 0 win. 5 - 0 became 6 - 0 as Micky Plant had the disappointment of playing the invisible man. Mickey decided not to appear in the doubles having not had a game, that went to Gavin and Lee as they laid down the challenge to Marcus and Andy.As the card states, that also went the way of Nags A who claimed every game without dropping a single leg. A huge result that places the Nags three behind the Spinners in a close fourth. __________________________________________________________ FLOWERPOT 2 V 5 QUEENS B __________________________________________________________ Earlier in the season these two teams were inseparable for a time .It was the Queens who had the better of fortunes when they finally separated and have continued to put in strong performances. The Flowerpot had put in a strong showing at the Broken X the week before and would expect something from tonights fixture. As the game got underway it was the Queens that stole a march on their opponents as Andy McKeith took full advantage of the darts as he disposed of Kev Whitmore 2 - 0.Flowerpot veteran Geoff Wood stepped up to the plate next and couldnt find his mojo as Craig Lyons ran away with it 2 - 0... So 2 - 0 up to the away side and former Macc individuals champion Dave Higginbotham became a further nightmare for the home side as Dave found form with a stunning 15 dart leg and another 2 - 0. Returnee and former league thrower Pete Birkinshaw keeps turning up for the Flowerpot and after a nineteen darter the previous week he would be looking forward to his game.Rob Lockett was his opponent this Monday evening and would also take the spoils this time around with an 18 dart leg thrown in for good measure. The Flowerpot next produced Andy Whitmore former Macc individual finalist against Mike Hunter who has moved from the A team for more first team action was getting it tonight and also giving it as at 1 - 1 a 180 is always a welcome friend.Mike taking the last for a 2 - 1 win for a 5 - 0 lead. Never say die as Terras Captain Tommy Crowley grabbed one back and kept a clean sheet against Polish star Savvi Tomczak. And there was more to come as the Pot finished with a flourish with Andy Whitmore returning with Pete Birkinshaw to end the hopes of Queens Captain Ashley Jones and Tommy Ludwicki. Nevertheless a great result for the Queens which keeps them in their respective table mix. __________________________________________________________ SPORTING B 2 V 5 Broken X .... __________________________________________________________ Hosting a darts match with a warm welcome is what you will always get at the sporting club be it the B or the A teams. This evening the Sporting B were having champions the Broken X round for company. The fledgeling Cuckoos have at least settled into their new nest somewhat and that alone should start to stabilize results. The Broken Cross however havent found the going as easy this season for one reason or another. Their is a new phenomenon at the Sporting lately called the Holmes factor.Lee Holmes darts have all of sudden started to find their targets. Lee first on this evening against seasoned Mick Smith carried his form through for a hat-trick of wins on the bounce and the best possible start for his team.New signing Mick Lander stood up to be counted by Cross stalwart Jamie Turner.Micks baptism of fire saw him staggering as Jamie took both his legs away ! At 1 - 1 .Bob Wilkins had the darts next in the third and found himself up against first class male Darren Pegg.Darren is on a sort of pay as you go darts experience as he is learning every week about match play in his first season.Bob as been playing for many years now which makes them poles apart and it showed as Bob took the game 2 - 0. Captain Dan Rimmer up next has a sound philosophy according to the score card.Sooty for prime minister it said on the back.Surely if Sooty did run it would be a clean Sweep over the Tories in the elections. Martin McDonnell would be Dans opponent this evening and without conceding a leg and a 113 out shot ,Martin made sure Dan was never in it..... 3 - 1 to the Cross and cool Lee McCabe found himself being mauled by big bear Neil Ridgway. At 1 - 1 it was the bear that tore the final strip off his quarry for 4 - 1. Apparently Mark Cairneys sat - nav wasnt working and he got lost on the way to the venue hence the sixth game was awarded to the Cuckoos. The doubles consisted of dart throwing aces Lee Holmes and Lee McCabe versus Martin McDonnell and Neil Ridgway.Locked at 1 - 1 it was the experience of the Cross boys that brought home the bacon with a deserved 5 - 2 victory.... __________________________________________________________ SPORTING A 3 V 4 BRITISH FLAG ... __________________________________________________________ With no Result-scorecard supplied there will no longer be partial match reports. How difficult is it to do !!! __________________________________________________________ SPINNERS 5 V 2 BRUCE B.... __________________________________________________________ With the Spinners coming off the back of a 7 - 0 victory over the Bruce Bs sister team surely the writing was on the wall for the visitors tonight. In fairness the new ensemble Bruce B has so far outscored and out performed its sister team so would a comparison be fair... As the match got underway it was the Bruce that took the initiative with Trevor Goodey leaving Matt Barton flat at 2 - 0.The lead increased as veteran and former individuals champion Paul Johnson saw his ship leave port without him,as Captain Derek turner weighed anchor at 2 - 1. If the Spinners were going to start a fight back it needed to happen soon and as the three Gibbs brothers were in town it was almost like a Bee Gees reunion.Falsetto Dave Gibbs was up first against tough cookie Steve Sellars. It helps that Steve hates the Bee Gees which made it much easier to beat Dave 2 - 0.. Back to 2 - 1.Would you have had a tenor on Steve Gibbs to beat Mick Hatton...No...Neither would I, as Mick sent Steve spinning down the charts....2 - 0 ... Back level at 2 - 2 it was karoke night for Ian Wadsworth as he took on Rob Gibbs.Could Rob alter the Bari-tone of the evening and bring Sporting back into it...The short answer...No...Ian followed suit and won it 2 - 0 putting the Spinners in the lead for the first time this evening. Phew... 3 - 2 up to the Spinners and all the Bee Gees sent Spining Roger Graves face Bob Tankard in the sixth.Bob hitting a 19 dart leg provided the best darts of the evening and left Roger wanting at 2 - 0... Finally with their mojo working again and the victory safe Ian Wadsworth and Bob Tankard wrestled the doubles from Derek Turner and Trevor Goodey with a clean 2 - 0 performance. A vital result for the Spinners as behind them the Nags A kept a clean sheet.Still everything to play for for third place. Sunday Morning Special. BY GAME-ON.... Until Next Week...
