Madera PD would like to thank Undersheriff Michael Salvador for his assistance on an arrest within the city. Undersheriff Salvador was off duty in the 1900 block of Howard Rd. when he observed an argument in the parking lot of a local liquor store between a man and a woman. The undersheriff called for police on his cell phone and quickly ran to assist. It was at this time that he found the argument was regarding some stolen property that the female (Niccole Borden) had stolen from the business and she was attempting to flee. Apparently Borden had placed a large bottle of vodka in her purse and left the store without paying. Undersheriff Salvador was able to separate the parties and kept Borden on scene until police arrived. The bottle was turned back over to the store owner and Borden was taken to jail after it was discovered that she was on felony probation and has been arrested for theft several times in the past. Although we are very grateful to Undersheriff Salvador for the assistance we would like to stress that it is never a good idea to intervene in an incident such as this unless you feel it is imperative for somebody’s safety. Undersheriff Salvador is highly trained and experienced in these matters, but generally it is better to contact the police and try to obtain as much information as you can until the help arrives.
