Magic Kids! Last weekend we had a special treat I wanted to share with you. We ran into neighbours in the field where were grazing these days and one of these neighbours, the one whos almost nine, turns out to have an inherent aptitude for shepherding. Within minutes the young Miss V. was telling the sheep apart, noticing things about their behaviour, and rounding up baby goats with (and without) the shepherds crook like nobodys business. I think she caught and held each of them twice that first afternoon, before considerately letting them down to go play again. She was also a big help moving the flock into a pen which I had set up rather awkwardly, she went ahead and called them and they naturally followed her. Miss V. even made it over to our place for early enough for milking in the morning! Shes only here part time, but we sure hope well see her again soon.
