Hi Andre. It’s been a while since I last emailed you when we had problems here in the town of Port St Johns. As a result of this contact the main culprit was arrested but it seems that prosecution was apparently not successful as he is back creating even more damage than before. I must state that we have a registered and legal operation that obviously cost the owner a substantial amount of money. Basically all the local transporters get their sand from him legally. We have several problems. 1. Mining on two plots in the town of PSJ. One a residential plot and one an ex municipal campsite. 2. Brazenly, right next to the main road to Mthatha on the Umzimvubu River bank inside the restricted area. 3. Right on the coast at Agate Terrace the coastal dunes are destroyed The damage is quite severe. We, as the ratepayers of this town is very concerned about the continued situation. We get no support either from our Municipality our SAPS. Our local DMR representative, Rupert Mtembu, is fearing for his life and don’t want to confront the criminals. This theft is mainly conducted by one man by the name of Zayedwa Ndabeni and various community members have been threatened by him. We need a very high level ministerial investigation into this situation. How can you assist us? I hope to hear from you soon.
