Mamphela Ramphele of Agang spoke at my university (Stellenbosch) on Wednesday, and it was quite interesting. She is possibly the most charismatic politician in SA today. She gave the standard talk about the youth and their (our) responsibility to be responsible. She bashed the ruling party, and the president in a straightforward (but dignified) manner. She discussed the corruption, and bureaucracy in government. She emphasised the need for transparency, and vowed to make her entire balance sheet public. I get the impression that she started Agang for the right reasons, and not for the money or power. She has vast experience, and a track record which spirals for herself. She should not be written off.
