Man In Afghan Army Uniform Opens Fire At British-Run Qargha Military Academy A U.S. Army Two-Star Major General was killed Tuesday in an insider attack at an Afghan military training facility near Kabul. More than a dozen Western soldiers in all -- including several Americans -- were shot in the deadly attack on officials visiting the military complex. The coalition officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity and would not release the name of the major general, said an unspecified number of other service members of the American-led coalition and Afghan soldiers, including a senior Afghan commander, also were shot. Their conditions were not immediately known. President Hamid Karzai was quick to condemn the attack, saying the delegation had been visiting the facility to help build Afghanistans security forces. Afghanistans Defense Ministry confirmed the gunman was wearing an Afghan army uniform. Afghan security forces also increasingly find themselves under attack as the planned foreign troop withdrawal draws near. On Tuesday, a police car struck a roadside bomb in the eastern province of Nouristan, killing three officers, provincial police chief Abdul Baqi Nouristani said. Two other roadside bombs in northern Sari Pul province killed three people, including a district police chief and his driver, deputy provincial police chief Sakhi Dad Haidary said.
