Manasseh Azure Awuni writes....... Do you know Hon. Murtala Muhammed? I am talking about the MP for Nanton Constituency, former Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations and now Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations. He was a deputy Coordinator of GYEEDA prior to his election. I have the minutes of the GYEEDA Management meeting which discussed GYEEDAs contract with Joseph Siaw Agyapongs Better Ghana Management Services Limited. At that meeting, Hon. Murtala Mohammed and other GYEEDA management members swore to resist attempts by then Youth and Sports Minister, Clement Kofi Humado, to sign that contract. Ask Hon. Murtala Mohammed about this and he cant deny it. The reason for their resistance was simple: the contract was a senseless one. The state was going to lose so much money and the future of GYEEDA was under threat. In fact, when I finished reading that contract, my reaction was Not even a mad man would sign this contract. But Clement Kofi Humado went ahead and signed the contract. Each month we paid management fees of over GHc10 million to the company. In the 24 months that the contract lasted, the state lost over GHc 240 million. To add fart to a stinking mouth, the company did not deliver per the terms of the contract. All the 10 Regional Directors of GYEEDA jointly wrote a letter to Humado asking him to cancel the contract because it had made the management of the modules worse than before. Humado refused to cancel it. Abuga Pele also wrote in his handing over notes that the contract be cancelled for similar reasons, but Humado did not mind him. The Better Ghana contract is only one of Humados sins at GYEEDA. Meanwhile, the state (Mahamas government) has not charged Humado for any wrongdoing even though the Ministerial Committee on GYEEDA said he had serious questions to answer. Abuga Pele is facing charges of willfuly causing financial loss to the state among others. The amount involved here is about GHc4 million. Yes, GHc4 million against the GHc240 million Humado caused us to lose. Thats not all. The state is using Humado as a witness against Abuga Pele. And it is not likely he will ever be held accountable for anything he did. And whether it is ignorance or lack of conscience, people want you to shut up because, standing up against governments endorsement of corruption will attract you a political party tag, you will be described as working for the opposition or hating the government. Come on! Bring as many tags as possible. I will wear them with honour. This is the only country I have and I will not sit on the fence while it is being destroyed. #Jm and corruption are synanimous#
