Manuel Manolo Rosado Manila-born Manolo Rosado was considered the greatest male Filipino ballet dancer of his generation and a pioneer of Philippine modern dance. The Rosados were cousins of the Lasa, Sanz [y Conde], de Oglou, Pando, Levy, Gonzáles (of Iloilo), etc. clans. Before the war, he and frequent dance partner Josefina Finina Sabater y Guzmán, daughter of the famous optician from Córdoba, Spain Dr. Manuel Sabater, became the young stars of the dance stage in the Philippines. Tragically, Finina Sabater lost her life as a civilian casualty of the Battle of Manila during the Second World War.
