Many Pendle residents have found flyers stapled to their grey bins offering a wheelie bin cleaning service. The flyer states that the Wheelie Fresh Wheelie Bin Cleaning Service has been Council approved. Pendle Council’s keen to make it clear that this service is not being provided by the Council and it hasn’t endorsed it. Carole Taylor, Waste and Recycling Co-ordinator for Pendle Council, said: “We’ve spoken to the company and although they’re legitimate they haven’t approached us for endorsement. “We don’t endorse any cleaning companies at all.” Councillor Joe Cooney, Leader of Pendle Council, added: “The company has told us that they’ve been approved by a nearby council. “We’re not telling residents that they shouldn’t use the cleaning service but we want to make it clear it’s not a Pendle Council service.” The Council is also urging residents to be cautious if any companies offer to remove rubbish. Always check the company is a registered carrier and make sure they provide a waste transfer note. This gives their details and where they’re disposing the rubbish.
