Many companies I know including Singtel whom Im speaking to this morning has a culture of conducting meetings for many things - for dissemination, for discussion, for decision making. In a report by Sheffield, average worker spent 60% of their time at a meeting. So by the time its your turn to present to them, your listeners would have already suffered from information overload which makes it difficult for them to focus on your message. Some would have already gone impatient. Thats why communications is getting more and more challenging. If you too are facing this problem, it helps if you get to the point fast enough. Lead with your key messages and pepper your presentation with lots of examples (pictures, videos, stories, analogies) rather than just numbers & graphs.
