Many famous people and athletes have a hard time coming to grips with who they are after they are no longer in the limelight. Theyll do all kinds of crazy things like reality TV shows and wacky personal appearances just remain in the public eye. But even us ordinary, every day people have a hard time answering when someone says, “tell me about yourself.” Most times our answer is more about what we do than who we really are. We automatically say, “I am an architect” or “Im a manager at so and so” or even “Im a mother.” But those things are simply the result of a severe identity crisis... Out of all the things on this earth that God has made, we alone are created in his image. Every time we identify ourselves as something other than that we dishonor the One who has given us our very life. As the apostle Paul said in the book of Acts, “For in him we live and move and have our being.” But it is only when we know who God is that we can truly know who we are and who we were created to be. There is a great sense of peace that comes with that knowledge. Yet, we only obtain it when we stop confusing who we are with what we do. Then we can say along with the Psalmist, I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. - (Psalm 62:1) Can you confidently say that today? If not why would you go any longer without settling the matter? Jesus began his ministry on earth by saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15) Who am I? I am a Christian, a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Today is the day of salvation. Stop doubting and believe!
