Many historical publications always put way to much glamor into real hero es of American History. The real David Crockett never really liked this kind of stuff. Billy Bob Thorntons image in The Alamo was more real life Crockett attitude. Crockett loved to tell stories and a joke or two and he was a true frontiersman with a backbone of iron and a wit. Many American heroes and outlaws have been lied about to sell books etc. He lived a sad but very interesting life and is a hero and man of honor to me.
