Many many years ago; my Physics teacher in high school, Mr Idriss (now late) began to teach us Physics. And one definition of work he gave and been with me up until now. I still vividly remember him leaning forward against the wall in our class and trying so hard to push the wall. He did it with all seriousness we became curious; and then he asked; with all the energy Ive exerted, did the wall move? We said no. Then he said; Ive done no work. Work can only be said to have been when the object force is being applied to moves a distance even if that distance is small in the direction to which force is applied. That has formed the basis for one of my purpose-defining principles; UNLESS the object moves a distance; you sweat in vain. Stay True!
