Many of your were horrified by the killing and relocating of the flying foxes in Queensland Australia. I received this today from the person who started the online petition. Sad.. Dear Friends, Thank you for signing the petition Stop the Shooting and Forced Relocation of Flying-Foxes in Queensland. I closed this petition recently and delivered the letter and all signatures to the Queensland State Government. Today I received a response from the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection, Hon. Andrew Powell. Although this issue gained more than 5,000 supporters it made little difference to our governement, who responded with information I was already aware of regarding management processes. The letter clearly stated futher continuation of shooting and forced relocation, however our governement still assumes (as was stated) that our flying foxes will continue their vital role of seed dispersal. A ver poorly informed view I believe. This situation will not change as long as they are our decision makers. Thanks for all your suport. Lets hope our next election has a better outcome.
