Many options are available for outdoor living floors but nothing looks better than natural stone. Some options include: Granite, Slate, Flagstone, or Bluestone. 1. Granite is the most expensive but most popular. Extremely durable and variations of color allows it to top the list. 2. Slate is natural rock with both durability and waterproofing properties. Color choices are small with only gray or black variations. Resistant to acid, so it can be laid directly on soil. 3. Use Natural Flagstone (not fabricated type from home improv stores) which is resistant to any climate and various materials can be used to fill cracks (sand to bark to ground cover). 4. Bluestone typically sold in large pieces with a bluish-gray coloring. Cost effective, easy to use and stands up to freeze thaw cycle. Though because of its porosity, Bluestone should be properly sealed.
