Many people have liked this page because of the fabulous band that is the Columbia High School Marching Wildcats, but they dont know the story behind this page...I am Donna Kendrick McKenzie, and I started this page because there was already a page for the former CHS band members, but there wasnt a page for fans...thus, this page was started...I have been a fan of this band since 1979, when my grandmother, Alene King, who was a dorm mother for Marion Hall at PRCC, invited me to come stay with her in the summer because the CHS band was going to be at PRCC for their band camp.. I met a lot of the band students and was amazed that almost the entire school was in the band! Very unusual! At the time I went to Harrison Central, but one year later, moved to Foxworth my senior year and finished up at West Marion. ..my dad was a coach there and we lived on campus...we played Columbia at CHS that year and I couldnt believe how many students were in that band! I didnt think they would ever quit coming around that track! Well, when I married, I wanted to live in the Columbia school district not only for the great teachers and great academics, but for that great band! I was blessed that both of my sons were in this band; Nathan received two state championships with Kong and A Nation at War, and Aaron received three state championships with A Nation at War, Quest for Gold, and Olympus Has Fallen. I have been blessed to be treasurer for the band for three years and to still be called Mamma Donna! I love them all, past and present members, and have been blessed to have gotten to know so many great parents along the way...so thankful for the memories and the new memories to come! Go Cats!
