Biafra is an ideology which only takes an astute mind to understand what it implies. A whole lot of things have been said and is still being said about Biafra. Sincerely, do people know the truth and facts about what they believe and talk about? Do they understand the effects of the ideology on its people and the essence of its existence? Therefore at this juncture, some facts about Biafra should be made known to all and sundry, hence clarifying the lingering doubts and questions about the country, her people, culture, history and many more. • Biafra had been in existence over 500 years before the creation of Nigeria in 1914 by Fredrick Lugard. • Biafra is a land blessed with abundance of mineral and natural resources aswell as human resources that thrives a nation. • Biafra as at 1492-1729 as shown in the map produced by the Portugueseborders empires such as Ethiopia, Bini, Gabon etc. • The British had diplomatic dealings with Biafra before the creation of Nigeria and John Beecroft was the British Consul of the Bight of Biafra from 1849 to 1854. • Prior to the war, Biafra as at 31st August 1966 had 335 members at the National Assembly. 165 are non-Ibo speaking members against 169 Ibo speaking members. Therefore giving the so called ‘’minorities’’ a higher proportion of representation. • The Republic of Biafra declared by late Gen. OdumegwuOjukwu in 1967 was not a new country but a restoration of the ancient Biafra Nation. There are many things time and space may not permit me to write as it concerns our dear homeland, Biafra. However, for those castigating the rationale behind Gen. OdumegwuOjukwu’s declaration in 1967, I want you all to understand that well educated men, academicians, thinkers and inventors like Dr. Francis AkanuIbiam, Dr. Michael Okpara, Sir Louis Mbanefo, Prof. Kenneth Dike, Prof. EniNjoku, Prof. Chinua Achebe, Major Gen. Philip Effiong, Steve Jobs etc. that have walked this earth will never follow a path to perdition if they didn’t believe in the course of Biafra they fought and worked for. The world and Nigeria should know that though the rising sun of Biafra went to set in 1970 but it has never seized to rise because after sunset, there will surely be sunrise as Biafra obeys the laws of nature. We might have lost our sovereignty in 1970 but our identities as Biafrans are not yet lost.Therefore,I enjoin all to see the reasons with us why we are remembering all those that died for us to be able to talk about Biafra on the (30-MAY-2014).
