Many thanks to Rob Brisley and Anthony Davis of the Charlotte Fire Department for the efforts of your brothers who rescued me along N. Sharon-Amity Sunday night. My electric wheelchair does not play nice with loose gravel, and work on the new expressway interchange at 74 and Sharon Amity has presented a number of challenges. One spot, they have put in a new manhole, and the sides slope down at a steep angle. My wheelchair wanted to tip me over into traffic, and when I put my good leg out to keep from ending up in traffic, the rear wheels slide sideways down the slope and buried themselves to the hub in the loose gravel. The fire truck came, and as two firefighters steadied me, they were able to get the wheels back on solid ground. I am sorry to say I did not note which engine it was. So I am thanking ALL Charlotte firefighters for as job well done!
