Many times the devil will use your weakness. Nursing in the USA has job security and pays more money but Nursing has became POLITICAL. I have a hospice PRN job, with this job, the employer and I made an agreement on paper that i will work for the facility when they need me and only when iam available. For sometime, i avoided their calls because i was doing something else but when my boss left state, i called the hospice agency and said iam available for work even full time. I was told by the new person who is doing staffing that she does not have any openings but she will keep me on call, meaning when someone calls in, she will schedule me. This lady has brought in some of her staff from her old job who on weekends only want to work 8 Hrs and not 12 hrs, so she lets them do the 8 hr shifts and then calls me in to do the remaning 4 hrs. She just called me said Cynthia, this Michelle, would you want to work from 4 pm to 8pm on saturday and 9 am to 1 pm on sunday? I have done that shift for the past one month, to be honest, i spend more money on gas than the money i make from that assignment. The assignment is supposed to be 12 hrs but you cut it in two shifts, why? I have been in this business for yrs, Jamie the person who used to staff before you, iam the one who trained her. At first that agency was non medical but now, it is medical, you have an Rn as Suppervisor and both you and I report to the same person. When you are in a certain position in life, always remember, there is someone who can do a better job than you, thank God that you have a chance to do it and try to be FAITHFUL. She called me right back, giving me more hrs and i told her, i will get back to her coz iam in a middle of an interview on the phone for a better paying Job.
