Many young people who are able to decode text adequately find it more difficult to comprehend and infer meaning. Barriers to comprehension are often hidden from view. The “Between the Lines” programme combines the skills and experience of Target Literacy’s specially trained teachers with the expertise of Future Creative’s writers, storytellers and poets. Through six sessions, taking place one day a week, we will work with your identified group of students from KS2 or KS3 to break down barriers to comprehension, teaching invaluable tips to set them on the path to becoming excellent comprehenders. We will demonstrate to your pupils the links between reading and writing and maximise the skills they have in both, giving them the opportunity to read with a writer’s eye and write with a reader in mind.
