March 27th “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.’ 1 Peter 1:18-21 We belong to God by His own sovereign choice. He chose us, and set His love upon us. He did this altogether apart from any goodness in us at the time we were Born Again or any goodness or faith which He foresaw in us. He had mercy on whom He would have mercy, and ordained a chosen people unto eternal life; therefore, we are His by His unconstrained election. We are not only His by choice, but by purchase. He has bought and paid for us with the precious blood of His only Begotten Son- Jesus the Christ. It is a difficult concept to grasp at first, that my life does not belong to me. I demand my rights, yet I am stubborn, wasteful and at times down right arrogant. It is only through surrender that I even begin to understand why I was created at all. It certainly wasn’t so I could fulfill very desire that passes through my mind. I was dead in sin and the Lord called me out by name, my purpose here is to serve the King of kings…my reward is beyond anything I can imagine. “For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him that calls.” Romans 9:11
