Mark - After CBC’s Marketplace aired the undercover footage of turkey abuse I filmed at a Hybrid Turkeys factory farm, Canadians were outraged and thousands of people, including you, signed our petition calling for meaningful change. Thank you. What has happened since is amazing. After seeing our footage on Marketplace, two former Hybrid employees came forward to CTV and CBC stating that they had witnessed and reported routine animal abuse at Hybrid to supervisors, but nothing was ever done. Click on the video to watch CBC Nationals coverage of the whistleblower story. Even more amazingly, according to an article in the Toronto Star, the industry organization we petitioned — the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) — is planning to complete an overhaul of its turkey code of practice, and is looking to make changes to the code based on the concerns we raised. All of this happened in less than two weeks! This is incredible progress, but to ensure that the cruelty I filmed at Hybrid doesnt continue unchecked elsewhere in Canada, we need to keep pushing NFACC to update its code of practice for turkey producers. I know that if we continue to press NFACC to speak out and improve the code, we’ll win better standards for all turkeys raised in Canada. Please help us keep the pressure on NFACC to take a stand against turkey torture by forwarding the email below to your friends and asking them to sign the petition at change.org/turkeytorture. Thank you for your support, Jennifer, undercover investigator for Mercy For Animals Canada __ Sample email to copy, paste, and forward to your friends: Hi, Im supporting Mercy For Animals Canadas petition asking the National Farm Animal Care Council to speak out against turkey torture. MFA Canada released undercover footage of turkeys with open wounds, rotting eyes, and festering infections left without proper veterinary care, and turkeys punched, thrown, and beaten with metal rods and shovels at a factory farm in Ontario. This exposé drives home the need for the National Farm Animal Care Council to update its codes of practice for Canadian turkey producers. Over 26,000 have signed the petition. For more information and to add your name, go to change.org/turkeytorture. Thank you,
