Mark Twain said Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, - TopicsExpress

Mark Twain said Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. And so it is also with doubt and belief. To believe in something or especially, someone, doesnt mean there is no doubt; doubt is like fear — it is a natural response to the unknown. But it can be overcome. Belief is not a mystical force; it is an active act of will, and it can overcome any doubt, if that is what the believer chooses to do. I have doubted, often; and sometimes, doubt really IS almost indistinguishable from fear. But in the moments when doubt emerges, I remember my belief is stronger — and where once, the doubt and fear would have prevailed for days, weeks, or longer, now, it passes in hours, or even minutes, because my courage, my love, and my belief are simply stronger — not because I wished them to be, but because I willed them to be, and that choice, and the actions that follow it, are all that is real in this world. And thats what matters. — From a work in progress
