Mark Valcour has left us. One of the sweetest, funniest and most upbeat, positive and generous guys you could ever meet. Very saddened by this and was shocked when I saw this post from Carleton alumni. I walked into CKCU thirty years ago to volunteer and Mark took me under his wing in the production department and let me help out there when there was clearly no room for me in the on-air side of things ... he instructed me in radio production at Algonquin College as well and really encouraged me as an audio editor ... I didnt end up following that path but still use what he instilled in me then to this day in my growing obsession with video production. He was a huge supporter of local rock and really loved our band ... so much so we were humbled and honoured when asked us to play his 60th Birthday for him last July. He was a fixture at CKCU to this day with his music show Live Revolutions and always the stalwart sound guy at The Dom and Barnstorm ... theres a helluva lotta people out there who are gonna miss him and the alternative radio/music scene has lost one of their brightest lights. Thanks Mark for all you did, loving every minute of it and the legacy youve left behind.
