Marlyn Bandiero >>> Dogs with FCE and other disabilities (support group) Friends, I need help. Some of you may know my dog Dante. Ive often given advise in this group. Now I need your advise. Dante had his FCE on March 8, 2013. He lost the use of his hind legs, was fecal and urinary incontinent and did not respond to pain. With time and lots of rehab, Dante regained deep pain. He can now move his legs a bit when stimulated. However, he has not recovered the use of his legs and remains incontinent. We have been caring for him for this past year, doing muscle exercises, herbal treatments, rehab sessions and waking up 2 times during the night to move him from one side to the other...every night for the last year. We are now at a cross road. It is becoming increasingly difficult to care for him, we have to work you know. I dont know what to do. All the research I do says they should recover within a few months. I dont know if Dante has plateaued and this is it for him. Hes a German Shepherd so its difficult to care for him like this. I guess the question I have is, has anyone had an FCE dog that DID recover some use, even 75% of the legs back after a year? Or are we just dreaming of the impossible? Please help. Thank you.
