We built the buildings at Squirrel Ridge with COTTA and Community Works grants several years ago, grants that are open to local communities that want to start an organization or build a structure that have a board that is at least 51% Cherokee. The maintenance of Squirrel Ridge is covered by those who attend. On the second part, Ryan makes the same pay he has always made with the exception of annual merit raises that every full time employee has the opportunity to receive. Same for me in my employment. And lastly, we dont promote our ground as we dont seek membership, we invite people to attend if they want to know more about Cherokee Culture and Community but thats it. Mary stated once, that I go across the country and say the UKB is a fake tribe, obviously the UKB are federally recognized, that cant be denied. No one can say theyve ever heard me say this as I have never thought it. I answer here because this was brought to my attention and Im not on the discourse page or any Cherokee page where disrespect and deceit is allowed. Our People were great Communicators, we need to rise to that level again.
