FROM THE NEWSROOM: HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has bowed to reality and has closed the door on a purchase by Tenet Healthcare Corp. of Waterbury Hospital and four other nonprofit hospitals in Connecticut. The Republican-American reports that the governor told reporters Monday he sees no possibility of Tenet reconsidering its decision abandoning its purchase plan. Malloy said his administration worked with the company until it withdrew its application and there is not a whole lot to do after the fact. He and his chief of staff said last week the administration continued to reach out to Tenet to urge the Dallas company to re-engage. Tenet pulled out of Connecticut earlier this month citing numerous conditions by Attorney General George C. Jepsen and the state Department of Public Health on its proposed acquisition of Waterbury Hospital.
