Maryland residents, specifically those in Montgomery County! Do you or have you ever owned a dog from a puppy mill or bought a dog from a pet store? Great news, Councilmember Gary Leventhal of Montgomery County, MD, introduced a Bill that would prohibit retail pet stores from selling animals bred in certain breeding facilities. In other words, the Bill bans the retail sale of breeding mill dogs/cats/other animals. Mr. Leventhal introduced Bill 50-14 on October 28 and there will be at public hearing on January 13 at 7:30pm at the Stella B. Werner Council Office Building located at 100 Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD 20850. Those who wish to sign up to testify can call 240-777-7803. Anyone can attend the public hearing even if they do not testify. Having supporters of the bill in the audience still makes a big impact so please feel free to attend even if you do not sign up to testify. Information on this bill can be found here: montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/Resources/Files/bill/2014/Packets/20141028_4A.pdf
