Maybe these Mormons are onto something. (a story from my mission). So one day we got a referral from mormon.org, it was a kid named Jake, so we go to Jakes apartment. As we teach him the first lesson, it kinda felt interesting, I was hopeful, I saw that he had a Tea Party flag, and as we talked, I connected with him really well. We both hit it off, he showed me one of his guns, I talked about the churches stances on things he was fun. He told us that he has a Girl Friend who is a memeber, and that she lived in AZ, and that he met her online. As we were leaving he turned to me and asked So what happens in your Temples? I replied when we come back next week well talk about that, he said ok, I was just listening to Glenn Beck and he was talking about the Temple, and Stu asked him what happens in them, and Glenn replied, I would tell you, but then I would have to kill you. Jake then said after that I wondered what really happened it them. I replied saying I cant wait to talk more about this but weve got to go right now... Well later that night we get a call from AZ, it was from his girl friends dad. Apparently he wanted to go out to AZ to met her, but her dad said no. The plan they came up with was. He would refer himself, we would go and teach him, and he would get our cellphone number. He then texted it to her, and she gave it to her dad. Who then called us that night, to vet him, and see if he was a creeper. We were kinda bummed out, Jake had played us, and we had thought he was legit. Well we still and an appointment, and a lesson to teach about Temples, and the Plan of Salvation... So we did not give up. That next week we taught him the Plan of Salvation, and committed him to come to church, and read and pray about the Book of Mormon. And he did come that Sunday, when he showed up he had even got a suit to look good. The Stake President thought he was a missionary when he came up to us, and when he realized he was a non member, he was super excited. That next week he committed to baptism. And that next he came to Stake Conference, we had the Boston Temple President, and our Mission President speak. It was super powerful, afterwards a member held a lunch for all the Missionaries who came to stake conference, and invited us and Jake, so as we were eating, I wanted him to talk to Sister Wilkey (our Mission presidents wife), as they talked, she asked him, so your getting baptized ? and he replied yes, and she said do you know if this is true? and he said, Yes. I was super excited. He then shared what happened. After we left from teaching the Plan of Salvation, he said he was interested, and he read some of the Book of Mormon, and got down on his knees and prayed. He then stopped for a second, and said, I felt something, it was amazing, I then texted my girl friend asking what was I feeling? and she just started to freak out, saying YOUR FEELING THE SPIRIT! He then said, I thought to myself Hmmm maybe these Mormons are onto something... He then said he knew the church was true when he came for the first time that Sunday, he felt the same powerful feelings. Fast forward, Jake was Baptized less than 2 months after we started teaching him, I asked me to Baptize him, citing that it was us hitting it off, that is why he kept learning. And he is getting married in the Boston Temple this June!
