Mbabazi Must Account for His Mess – Mao Nixon Segawa Ex Premier, Amama Mbabazi Opposition Democratic Party (DP) has cautioned sacked Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi advising him to prepare explanations for all the misappropriation and abuses of office that marred his term when still Prime Minister. “I stand to warn Mbabazi that every issue that was buried is bound to be uncovered since he has been sacked from his position,” the party president Norbert Mao told the press at City House in Kampala during a weekly press briefing. Mao cited issues such as the Temangalo Scandal of 2008 which saw Mbabazi by then Security Minister and business man, Amos Nzeyi sell ‘411.44 acres’ of land to NSSF at an inflated cost of Shs 11.2 billion. He he also highlighted the CHOGM scandal of 2007 which saw government lose a tune of Shs 6bn and the PRDP funds which left the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) named the worst corrupt office ever leading to aid cut by donors. Mao however added that it’s upon Mbabazi to decide whether he remains in the NRM or join the opposition but warned the public against thinking that whoever falls apart with Museveni and the NRM is the best opposition member that can deliver change in the country. He also blamed the ruling NRM for crippling internal democracy through the Kyankwanzi resolution which bars other party leaders from contesting against president Museveni in the forth coming elections. “This explains why Mbabazi, who showed interest in standing against him, finally being sacked; in NRM, you can do anything evil and be left free as long as you don’t portray interest in the presidency seat,” Mao said.
