McCain supports the President in backing the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria and a U.S. Military strike. McCain has made this mistake before when he supported the Afghan Freedom Fighters to include Osama Bin Laden when they were fighting the Soviet Union. He even admits it in one of the debates. In an article published, September 28TH, 2008, from the transcript of his previous Friday night debate, McCain said; "First of all, I won’t repeat the mistake that I regret enormously, and that is, after we were able to help the Afghan freedom fighters and drive the Russians out of Afghanistan, we basically washed our hands of the region. And the result over time was the Taliban, Al Qaida, and a lot of the difficulties we are facing today. So we can’t ignore those lessons of history." It would seem McCain has forgotten that lesson already.
