McCoist: Rangers AGM can end Ibrox off-field turmoil RANGERS boss Ally McCoist is hoping the eagerly-awaited AGM can end the off-field turmoil at the stricken Ibrox club. McCoist admitted it has been difficult to work without a chairman and a chief executive since Walter Smith and Craig Mather resigned. And he expressed optimism the AGM can bring an end to the bitter power struggle which is being waged for control of the Glasgow giants. He said: Im the same as every supporter, staff member, shareholder. Lets just get it (the AGM) done and move on. Lets get the club moving forward again. I think it is clear that everybod wants it to happen and it will happen. All we can hope for is we get a result and Rangers can move forward again. I think everybody would like a clear resolution. The future of the club is of paramount importance to everybody. It would certainly help if we could move on from that day. McCoist stressed it would help his attempts to take Rangers back into the top flight to have a settled club with a chairman and chief executive. He commented: It is not ideal situation (having two directors on the board) although I did speak with Brian (financial director Stockbridge) yesterday. There is contact, but it is difficult and not ideal working without a chairman and chief executive. I havent spoken to Brian about possible future signings because, to be fair to him, he is the financial director. It would undoubtedly help if I had someone to speak to about that. Meanwhile, McCoist has predicted Rangers can beat SPFL Championship club Falkirk in the fourth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup later this month. He said: The draw could have been better. We wanted a home draw and never got one. But it is obviously a club that we know reasonably well. There are one or two negatives. They knocked us out of the League Cup two years ago. It is also a change of surface again. But there are positives as well. It is a game that we feel we can win if we go and play well. They are doing alright. They got to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup last year. But it is one of these draws we are reasonably happy with. I think we have got a top-flight squad. I think we have a top-flight team going to Falkirk. Whether it is a yardstick for where we are is not really for me to say. We want to go as far as we can. McCoist will have Ian Black, who was suspended for the Scottish Cup third-round game against Airdrieonians on Friday night, available for the SPFL League One game against Dunfermline Athletic when the two top sides in the league meet at Ibrox tonight. eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers/mccoist-rangers-agm-can-end-ibrox-off-field-turmoil-141702n.22621149
