Michael J. Mullen / Staff Photographer The state Department of Transportation said the subsidence that closed lanes on the McDade Expressway this morning is very significant. PennDOT spokesman James May said the subsidence was noticed at 5 a.m. It is 6 feet by 7 feet in length and 10 feet deep in its deepest section. The subsidence is almost directly underneath the median near the Seventh Avenue exit. Single lanes incoming and outgoing closest to the median between Seventh Avenue/Providence Road and Mifflin Avenue are shut down. Crews are on scene evaluating the subsidence. It may be days before restrictions are lifted. Check back for updates.
