Meanwhile back at the Eastern (New Mills direction) end of Reddish North station on a cold and grey February day in 1981 these two cheery types were tidying the last vestiges of spent ballast ready for the new concrete sleepered track panels and fresh ballast. I well remember how amazed they were that anybody should be sufficiently interested to photograph their handiwork! Where are they now.....anybody on here recognise them?
