Measures on to educate farmers about Agri schemes, new farming techniques: Dir RAJOURI JULY 08 – The Agriculture department is taking every measure to reach out the farmers, especially in far flung areas to make them aware about various schemes and programmes run by the Department for increasing the production and diversification of crops for better returns. Interacting with farmers during his visit to Doongi Brahmana, Keri, and Sasalkot villages here, Director Agriculture Jammu Ajay Khajuria advised the farmers to adopt Mushroom Cultivation and bee keeping as allied activities to increase their income. He further asked the farmers to go for protected cultivation by adopting polyhouse and greenhouse techniques with the assistance of the agriculture Department adding that it would also help them to get good returns. Responding to the demands of the farmers, Director Agriculture assured that the department would look into the demand of opening a permanent seed sale centre in the area. Later, the director Agriculture reviewed achievements recorded under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, ATMA, Farm Mechanisation through Training Testing and Demonstration, National Mission on Micro-Irrigation and Technology Mission. The progress on issuance of Kissan Credit Cards and facilitation process of the department in food grain procurement was also reviewed by the department. He was also briefed about soil health services, Mushroom Development Scheme, Apiculture Development scheme and organic farming initiatives taken by the department and other major initiatives taken up by the Agriculture department
