Medal Ceremony for Members of Operation HAMLET in Haiti On Wednesday, January 21, four members of the Canadian Armed Forces were honoured for their service in MINUSTAH and Operation HAMLET. Paula Caldwell Canadas Ambassador to Haiti, Carl Alexandre, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General, and Lieutenant-General Jose Luis Jaborandy Jr., MINUSTAH Force Commander, presented three MINUSTAH medals and two Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medals. These Canadian officers join some 125,000 Canadian peacekeepers who have served abroad since 1947, the biggest cumulative contribution to peacekeeping operation from any country. Operation HAMLET is the Canadian Armed Forces’ participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti, which is commonly known by its French name, Mission des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en Haïti (MINUSTAH).
