Media Release For Immediate Release – Friday 13th September 2013 “McNally moving forward in Sandown practice” West Australian Rhys McNally has concluded the opening day of round five of the Auto One V8 Ute Series protected by Armor All by securing eighth place in two practice sessions at Sandown International Raceway. The first session saw overall lap times plummet with the top twelve all beneath the previous lap record time. Completing 13 laps in the session, Rhys recorded his fastest on lap nine with a 1:24.035 to finish eighth after the 30 minute stint. “I was happy with how the car rolled out in the first session, we didn’t have to make many changes at all and it was about familiarising myself with the track again as it is the first time the Utes have been back at Sandown since 2011,” McNally said. A shorter 20 minute session for practice two again saw Rhys amongst the top ten quickest times, with the Stratco Racing Holden securing eighth with a time of 1:23.810, an overall improvement on lap times setting the team up for qualifying on Saturday morning. “The car was again setup well for the second session, the introduction of a new category rear sway bar has helped us in practice and that along with new tyres for qualifying should have us moving up the field ahead of the weekend’s three races,” McNally concluded. Round five of the Auto One V8 Ute Series protected by Armor All takes place at the 2013 Sandown 500 for the V8 Supercars on September 13-15.
