Media conglomerates (Rogers, Bell Media, Shaw etc;) are advocating that 2 new features be introduced and they both will bad for the average person. 1/ Creation of an Internet Fa$t Lane in addition to the Slow Lane that EVERYONE uses today and 2/ Provision of some internet sites to customers but while competing sites get blocked. The creation of a new more expensive Fast Lanes Service would be like having the Canadian Government agree to the creation of a Superhighway for rich corporations/people while the rest of us get to use the old side roads. As for the 2nd issue, different Internet Service Providers (ISPs) giving you, for example, access to movies through Netflix but not through Cinemanow, the issue is known as Net Neutrality and heres what President Obama recently said on the subject.
