Media for Justice believes in people in struggle speaking for themselves in the media - not being spoken on behalf of. We also want to present the truth beyond the sound byte - hence we created a media platform on which we record and share the narratives of people living under the siege of corporate abusers and government neglect. Please watch this series about the struggle for justice from a West Rand community living within the ambit of Mintails Mine. In this second episode of our 4 part series - the Kagiso residents take their struggle to the streets after Minister Susan Shabangu of the Department of Mineral Resources tells them that there is no legal reason to close down the Mintails mining operation, which is causing damage to their homes, dust pollution, noise pollution and presents a danger to their lives. In this episode we hear from residents about how the mining has negatively impacted their lives. We catch up with protest leader Obakeng Moiloa after the surprise announcement from Minister Susan Shabangu that the mine is to be closed temporarily for further investigations. He informs us that they are skeptical about this sudden move as they were not consulted about exactly why the mine was to be closed and the community are calling this electioneering and damage control. The call for the full closure of the mine remains. Then tensions are mounting between the IFP and ANC Youth League which a Councillor comes to resolve. https://youtube/watch?v=QAjR5I-ESuw&feature=youtu.be
