Medicare is a Federal Program that assists the aged and disabled. - TopicsExpress

Medicare is a Federal Program that assists the aged and disabled. I have a Medicare Advantage Plan that combines my Part A (hospitalization) Part B (Doctor) and Part D (Prescription). Medicare Advantage Plans come under State Insurance rules, which means that what I can be offered and what someone in another state could be offered, may be different. And in NJ, people in different counties can be offered different Medicare Advantage policies. Obamacare is also a Federal Program, but again, each State can opt in for things, and/or opt out for others. These are just two examples of Federal Programs that are administered by States. I think that if something is Federal, then everyone should have access to the same benefits. Why should someone who lives in Texas lets say have better or worse coverage options than someone who lives in Iowa (just picked 2 states, doesnt really matter which ones you pick)? I believe that State Rights are very important, but when it comes to programs that are controlled by the Federal Government, shouldnt we all be equal under the law? If anyone can tell me why State Rights should trump Federal Rights in this case, please let me know. Im really trying to wrap my head around this.
